Storage and Discharge of Bulk Solids Short Course

A 2 day course of presentations, case studies and discussion in our short course centre, followed by a one day practical session in our laboratories.
This course deals with the basics in operation, design and specification of hoppers and silos and aims to provide the knowledge to assist in identifying powder handling storage and discharge problems and the techniques which can be employed to overcome them.
The following topics will be covered:
- basics of hopper and silo function
- dealing with potential problems
- determination of hopper geometry for hopper flow
- discharge aids and interfacing to feeders
- feeder design
- practical examples
The new practical session in our on-site laboratory will give delegates the opportunity to test their own materials using different characterisation techniques discussed during the course, or to come along and learn something new, using a selection of our bulk materials.

The course is aimed at Engineers, Managers, Skilled operatives, Equipment manufacturers and maintenance crew or anyone involved in using powders and bulk solid materials. A basic technical education and/or experience in industry is recommended.
