Informa Exhibitions Ltd regrets to announce the closure of Solids & Bulk Handling magazine.

Solids & Bulk Handling magazine has been affected by the ongoing downward trend of on-the-page marketing spend. This combined with the economic pressures that the loose and solids handling industry face has ultimately led to the sad and difficult decision to cease publishing the magazine.

The November/December 2017 issue of Solids & Bulk Handling will be its last edition.

Segregation, Degradation and Caking of Powders during storage and transport May 14, 2013

A substantial proportion of the problems that prevent industrial processes from achieving acceptable levels of efficiency are directly linked to the bulk characteristics of the powders or granular materials being handled.  An early understanding of the tendency of materials to cake in storage, degrade through transfer systems or de-blend when handled through multiple process steps can provide information to evaluate the potential for problems before entering into full scale production commitments.

Through the experience of our team of consultants a range of courses for industry have been developed to provide insight into characterisation techniques by which bulk behaviour can be predicted.

On the one day Segregation, Degradation and caking course you will to discover

Why a well mixed blend becomes a variable one due to separation in handling; (segregation)
Why materials suffer damage during conveying from one part of the process to another; (degradation)
Why free flowing powders can become solid lumps during transport; (caking)
