Improve your materials handling knowledge this winter by attending one of our short courses. September 27, 2012
Our next course is: Overview of Particulate Handling Technology.
6 - 8 November 2012, includes optional practical session in our laboratories.
Venue: Chatham Maritime, Kent | £1055 for 3 days; £680 for 2 days theory.
The Wolfson Centre is a leader in the field of powder and bulk solids handling technology and has established strong links with industry. This enables us to offer consultancy, research projects and short courses that combine technological excellence with personalised teaching. Our experts' in-depth knowledge, as specialists in powders and bulk solids, is complemented by their experience across all industries, including pharmaceuticals, process engineering, recycling, food processing , renewable energy and mining, to name but a few.
As you will no doubt have discovered, powders and bulk solid particulates do not always behave as you want them to, causing loss of production, damage to equipment, inconsistencies in dosing through irregular discharge or flow etc. This is where we can help you.
This course aims to provide the knowledge to assist you in identifying bulk solids handling problems and the techniques which can be employed to overcome them.
The following topics will be covered:
- Vessel design, including dimensions, feeders and discharge aids;
- Characterisation of materials;
- Pneumatic and mechanical handling;
- Feeder interfacing;
- Instrumentation and control of solids handling systems
- Dust control including ATEX Compliance
- Bulk Property measurement
- Big Bag emptying
Following the 2 days theory sessions, an optional practical session in our labs has been arranged to practice and further examine the techniques discussed.
Last year saw the first of these sessions and proved a popular addition. One delegate commented: it is interesting to be able to try out different methods of characterising materials, not available in the workplace
If you work with powders or particulates, you will benefit from this course. On-line booking and full course details are available at http://www.bulksolids.com.
