Informa Exhibitions Ltd regrets to announce the closure of Solids & Bulk Handling magazine.

Solids & Bulk Handling magazine has been affected by the ongoing downward trend of on-the-page marketing spend. This combined with the economic pressures that the loose and solids handling industry face has ultimately led to the sad and difficult decision to cease publishing the magazine.

The November/December 2017 issue of Solids & Bulk Handling will be its last edition.

Drum tipper mates with low-height receiving vessels November 15, 2017

Drum tipper mates with low-height receiving vessels
A new TIP-TITE Drum Tipper from Flexicon for 115 to 200 litre drums features an elongated discharge cone that mates with the gasketed inlet of low-height receiving vessels, allowing dust-free transfer of free-flowing bulk solid materials.

Housed within a three-sided safety enclosure with safety interlocked doors, the drum platform is raised by a single hydraulic cylinder, creating a dust-tight seal between the rim of a drum and the underside of the discharge cone.

With drum secured in place, a second hydraulic cylinder tips the platform-hood assembly, stopping at a dump angle of 45 degrees with a motion-dampening feature, causing the spout of the discharge cone to mate with a gasketed receiving ring on the lid of a low-height receiving vessel. A pneumatically actuated slide gate at the spout can be opened variably for partial or total discharge at controlled rates, and then closed before returning the drum to its original position, with no dust emitted throughout the cycle.

Available in stationary and mobile configurations, the Drum Tipper is offered in carbon steel with durable industrial finishes, with material contact surfaces of stainless steel or in all-stainless steel finished to food, dairy, pharmaceutical or industrial standards. A diameter adapter allows for the safe and dust-tight dumping of smaller-diameter drums.
