Informa Exhibitions Ltd regrets to announce the closure of Solids & Bulk Handling magazine.

Solids & Bulk Handling magazine has been affected by the ongoing downward trend of on-the-page marketing spend. This combined with the economic pressures that the loose and solids handling industry face has ultimately led to the sad and difficult decision to cease publishing the magazine.

The November/December 2017 issue of Solids & Bulk Handling will be its last edition.

The Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology in the Faculty of Engineering and Science at the University of Greenwich requires a capable and enthusiastic addition to the team of Engineers to support Enterprise, Research and Development work in the specialist field of bulk solids handling.  The successful applicant will augment a world renowned team of engineers providing research and consulting services to various industry sectors.

Activities will include laboratory and analytical work relating to design and troubleshooting of industrial solids handling systems. Engagement with various research focussed projects will also be required.

To be considered for the higher grading of AC2 the successful applicant will also be required to interface with commercial clients, lead projects, interpret data into design recommendations and participate in outreach activities.

A PhD qualification in some aspect of mechanical or chemical engineering is essential, together with familiarity of general engineering principles applied in industry.           A track-record of hands-on skills in laboratory and/or practical engineering work are also essential.  The candidate will need to have well developed communication skills, both written and oral, and to be prepared to occasionally represent The Wolfson Centre to industry clients in a way that will impress.

Hours of work will be full time but with flexibility to make early starts and/or late finishes when travel or workload requires. This post is temporary for one year with the possibility to extend subject to available funding.

Salary Scale:

The job grade will be assessed according to experience and expertise. Where experience is lacking, the opportunity to develop into these areas will be provided.

(AC1) £26,052 - £31,076 per annum

(AC2) £32,004 – 37,075 per annum
