Informa Exhibitions Ltd regrets to announce the closure of Solids & Bulk Handling magazine.

Solids & Bulk Handling magazine has been affected by the ongoing downward trend of on-the-page marketing spend. This combined with the economic pressures that the loose and solids handling industry face has ultimately led to the sad and difficult decision to cease publishing the magazine.

The November/December 2017 issue of Solids & Bulk Handling will be its last edition.

Best Practice for Bulk Handling Plant Design and Operation March 20, 2017

Design of Equipment for Storing and Discharging Bulk Materials

25 - 26 April 2017; Chatham, Kent

Hoppers, silos, bins and bunkers are widely used in industry for storing bulk solids materials. To ensure regular discharge from these storage systems, it is important to understand the flow characteristics of the materials being handled, and to ensure that the bins have been designed accordingly.

This 2 day course has been developed with specification writers and equipment designers/suppliers in mind. Practical and 'hands-on' exercises will feature in the course structure.

Subjects Covered

•Minimising project risk through characterisation of bulk materials;
•How to characterise bulk materials using firmly established  methods and the latest test equipment;
•How to use shear cell measurements to design for reliable discharge;
•Detail design for storage equipment;
•Best Practice for bulk handling plant design and operation;
•When should discharge aids be applied and appropriate types;
•Methods for correct interfacing.

This course is intended to target project engineers involved in the detail specification of bulk handling schemes or design engineers involved in the construction of equipment used for storing bulk materials. The content of the course will also be of relevance to engineers that wish to be brought up to speed with equipment and operational best practice relating to bulk handling.

Course fees are £765 per person, discounted to £665 for anyone who has previously attended the basic course Storage and Discharge of Powders and Bulk Solids. 10% Discount is also available for multiple delegate attendance.
